The first time I heard Emily sing was at a youth competition in Anglesea (which she won). She was up there with just her ukulele and guitar. As soon as she started singing, I knew every ounce was coming from her soul. I think if birds heard they’d be slightly envious. She sung a french song (in french) that made tears run from my eyes, and looking round the room…everyone looked entirely awestruck.

When she told me her favourite musicians— Aretha Franklin, Stella Donnelly, Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, and Jimi Hendrix..I could see a piece of them in her, in so many unique ways.

Music was in her life from a very young age. Beginning lessons at the age of 7, she knew it was something she’d always hold close in her life.

“It is definitely something I love and I couldn’t live without in my life”

Though she isn’t sure where she sees her music going, her career has already exceeded well beyond any young musicians wildest aspirations. Copious gigs, festivals, and soon to be supporting Ruby Fields and Baker Boy.

Emily’s biggest inspirations are her music teachers, Rachael, Evan and Lucy. Who have pushed and encouraged her to be the musician she is today.

I’ll be on the edge of my seat to hear what she does next.
